            | Hayden R | Western Massachusetts | How far up does the first truss normally appear? Thanks for feedback - I'm a newb | 5/24/2018 9:31:41 PM |

            | wixom grower ( The Polish Hammer) | Wixom MI. | Mine will start after about 10 leaves. The plant may be about a foot tall when you first see the buds but the plant will probably stretch to about 18" | 5/24/2018 10:20:12 PM |

            | wixom grower ( The Polish Hammer) | Wixom MI. | I recomend trying to grow a first truss tomato if you can. If you don't get a megabloom that you like then just wait untill you see something you like. I find that the first truss usually will get the bigest megabloom but some growers beleive you need a 4-5 foot tall plant before you set a tomato. I say try it both ways and see what works best for you. | 5/24/2018 10:26:07 PM |

            | Peace, Wayne | Owensboro, Ky. | If first truss shows no megabloom, do I do away w/that truss, i.e. trim it off? Peace, Wayne | 5/25/2018 6:06:27 AM |

            | wixom grower ( The Polish Hammer) | Wixom MI. | Yes it would be best to move on if their is no megabloom. | 5/25/2018 7:22:53 AM |

            | ESheel31(team sLamMer) | Eastern Shore of VA | I sometimes wonder if it’s in the genetics of the plant.Grew your 4.80 last year Wixom.
Plant had one main stalk that ribboned with one Mega Bloom on top.
Looked like a 2 ft tall sunflower.
Mega was the size of a golf ball.
Didn’t set but that thing was so big I was prepared to pop a tent in the patch and sleep next to it.
Temps went from 70s to upper 90s over night and stayed there for 2 weeks.
 Head fell right off.
 Man I was pissed !

            | Garden Rebel (Team Rebel Rousers) | Lebanon, Oregon | Always be prepared to pop a tent in the patch..just ask Porkchop. Those are some nice blooms. Quite a few of the early megablooms for me last year didn't materialize. The 6.06 and 6.02 I grew last year were from the 7.10 Foss and 4.69 Spaziani. Both nipple high and about 3 fused flowers. They grew rapidly early on and kept going. The roots and plant were large at that point. When pollinated I trimmed down the plant so it put all its resources into that one tomato. I am all about nipple high this year but will post big flowers when they occur.

            | wixom grower ( The Polish Hammer) | Wixom MI. | My Megazac's are very consistent at growing a first truss gaint megabloom.i think that the 4.80 was a wixom slammer. Last year because of neglect i lost my first megablooms on my Domingos but they all took on my Megazacs.i like the genetics of the megazac easy to grow and consistent megablooms. | 5/25/2018 2:25:08 PM |

            | ESheel31(team sLamMer) | Eastern Shore of VA | That blossom is the main reason I planted another 4.80 this year. What was your slammer Wixom?
 Any particular cross ?

            | ESheel31(team sLamMer) | Eastern Shore of VA | Rebel I only had one tomato of any size last year.About 4 ft up on wixom’s 6.23.
 Just under a pound.
I’ve invested a lot of money and work on my soil this year.
Hoping to break a new PB several times this year !

            | bnot | Oak Grove, Mn | In 2016, the wixom slammer was my biggest. That was an F1. Last year, my biggest blossom from the F2 was in a 40 gallon pot that I did not take care of correctly. I noticed last year..the seeds from my first year wixom slammer, tossed a first truss ribbon blossom on about 50% of the plants. This year..I will definitely be planting some wixom slammers...have not yet decided the ratio of F2's to F3's. This is a hard weekend for me...have to choose 200 seeds to start..with the eventual plan of 120 going into the garden. | 5/25/2018 7:17:28 PM |
