Is there a list that anyone knows about? I did some searching with no luck so far. Thanks

I think there is nothing official here Hank.I'v seen plenty of big tomatoes here though. There is a contest here at the Staunton Farmers Market between the vendors.I'v seen a girl with a farm in Verona win that with a 6.5 pound tomato.Another time with 5.75 pounds.I saw one here last year grown on the river bank on a farm that was over 6 pounds and I'm sure there are others.Heck, my ex-wifes 90 year old grandmaw used to grow tomatoes 5 pounds. They were Delicious variety.

Thanks for the information. That's something to shoot for. I remember my pawpaw growing big ones but not that big! I removed one of my old hog pens and am going to put a few plants in there right beside the long gourds.

I think we need to do like they did in Tennessee this past year.Someone just needs to claim the record officially to get the ball rolling.I thought that was a great idea they had there to do that.I will be attempting to grow the big ones here also this coming year. The best I'v ever done was a 4 pound Old German pink and yellow tomato a few years ago.Good luck to you this coming year Hank and I think we can get this tomato record thing moving along by submitting to the GPC for verification and just claiming the record. We have to start somewhere, lol.

That sounds like a plan. The VGVG club does not keep a list on anything other than pumpkin so I guess we need to start sometime. I am sure some people will add some older tomatoes once a list is started. My goal is 4 lbs for 2015. I think I will start some late plants so I can take one to a gpc weigh-off this fall. Good Luck to you and may we both get on the list in 2015!
