            | cloudwalker | Madisonville, TN | How can I find the giant watermelon records for the Tennessee Valley Fair? My daughter has about 70 in the field right now as a FFA project for school. She is going to enter one of these in the fair and I was wondering what the competition has been like for past years. She doesn't have a record, but would like to have at least a good showing. | 8/12/2012 9:20:33 PM |

            | Walking Man | formerly RGG | I think Chris Kent has that record with a 236 pound melon he entered in 2010. But I am not totally positive. | 8/12/2012 9:49:14 PM |

            | Walking Man | formerly RGG | A good showing is nice anytime but they pay only first place at the Tennessee Valley Fair. There is not so much as a ribbon for second place in the giant watermelon or pumpkin or squash growing contests there these days. | 8/12/2012 9:59:35 PM |

            | cloudwalker | Madisonville, TN | Not winning first place is OK. My daughter only wants to represent her school FFA chapter and show what a teenager can grow. She has won best of show several years in our county fair and want to increase the competition by moving on to a larger venue. Her largest melon ran 115 lbs using OTT measurements last week.
 Thanks for the info.
