            | Clutchhitter | Reelfoot Lake, Tennessee | Best vine in patch has developed a three inch long split less than a foot from stump. Strangest thing is the rest of the vine appears to be as vigorous as ever. Two questions for you experienced growers:

 1) Possible cause(s)?
 2) What is liklehood of plant's productive survival?

 TIA, Clutch

            | wv melonman | Watervalley Ms | Dry weather or to much nitrogen. The plant should be fine, some of mine are split to. | 6/3/2012 11:01:15 AM |
            | Walking Man | formerly RGG | I think there are many possible causes. many of my vines have split this year. I think mine was due to rapid growth. Your vines should not be affected much, if any. I had a vine last year that was nearly broken in two and it healed at a nearly 180 degree angle and was fine for the rest of the year. That was my 211 Leonard plant. | 6/3/2012 12:05:38 PM |
