Would have had no problem hitting 2k despite not hitting 40 lbs per day. The tape measure was underestimating the lbs per day, apparently. It must have been around 50 lbs per day.

My 2154 fruit split a few days ago. It was incredibly thick too. I did not weight it, but have some pics in my diary. It was a rock.

Dang! Someday, a laser scanner will create an image of the pumpkin and it will be measured to the micro-thousandth of an inch from all angles, at the rate we're going. I've often thought that a huge container with perhaps water in it and the pumpkin submerged into it would yield a near-perfect measurement with much elaboration, externally-volumetrically. I just now Googled this and it seems it is already being done somewhere (laser scanning); Congratulations, Your Heaviness! eg

Wow. That is crazy heavy! That proves that some pumpkins are heavy right from the start.

Maurice- Many are being grown this year so it will be interesting to see if the pattern continues.
MaticP- Seems like I am in good company;-)
Little Ketchup- Can only speculate what it was actually doing per day, but you are probably not far off.
Vineman- Sorry to see yours split as well. It looked heavy to me;-)

TowneFamilyVT- Glad I took the time to get it weighed to know that it was so heavy to chart.
pumpkinpal2- I like your idea... laser scanning to get an accurate volume.
big moon- It is interesting to see that some young pumpkins can still be very heavy, so these may b genetics worth looking into... (minus the splitting).
dale- I agree, growing on a scale is a great way to collect data, we just need a bigger sample size.
