Carefully take a fillet knife in that split and draw it back toward the vine. Not a guarantee but I've had it work for me.

My opinion,like Andy said. Take a fillet knife and slowly slice back towards the main vine about 1.5". Keep the slice with the grain. And monitor it it should give that pumpkin some relief. Your going to be getting into bigger gains best to do it now. It should last ya. Keep an eye on the other side of the stem too. You might see if starting to do the same. Best of luck.
