From what I've heard I think its about the same. Splits can affect any kin. Either way you do it, keep it flat and support and adjust it as needed.

I think I'll try it for fun they seem to be very flat grown that way maybe I'll grow the WR for the biggest by circumference LOL.

I have used a sturdy 4x4 pallet under mine. A 4x4 pallet may only be good for up to 1500 lbs?! For a WR circumference you'll need a 6x6 pallet not just a 4x4 pallet! Optimism comes at the cost of an upgraded pallet unfortunately.
Of course they dont have to be grown on a pallet, but for me I think there were some benefits. A warmer and dryer underside might help reduce weakness underneath the pumpkin. Sometimes the underside is thinner probably in part because of less airflow and cooler temps. In theory I would want the whole pumpkin to be at about the same temp and humidity as much as possible.
