Patch looks normal for the late start, the 2004 Bernstrom to the East and 1844 Caspers growing westward, except the tips of the growing mainstem got baked off both plants while we were away for 2 weeks, despite what I thought was an adequate soaker schedule. The last 2 secondaries from both appear robust and will suffice to become the forward marching soldiers to the limits of the patch. Should still do OK, Wrapped both stems with aluminum foil as a gesture against vine borers. Yeah, I know, would have to wrap the whole vine to be effective, but at least I did something.
