I've been asked by several growers how we start our seeds so here goes.
Our preferred way of germinating seeds is to.
Get six sheets off kitchen paper and stack them all on top of each other.
Then soak with cold water, fold the paper in half and squeeze out any excess water.
Then place the seeds on one side of the paper and fold the other side on top of the seeds.
Place the seeds into a ziplock bag and then some where warm like an airing cupboard or grow room.
The ideal temperature is around 30C
We expect seeds to start germinating after 24hrs but some will take longer.
As soon as the roots emerge we plant the seeds into a pot.
When the plants emerge it's helpful to gently tease off the seed skins.
As soon as the seeds have emerged you can then turn the temperature right down to around 16C.
