Watch out for those sting ray tails, Ian. I've done 4 soil samples and all I've added is Manganese and Boron as far as elements go. But, I've added a lot of bionlogicals like molasses, liquid kelp, chitosan, bacteria etc. Do you add any of these throughout the season?

We have never found the leaf/tissue tests of any value and also stopped doing them. How do you decide where to take your soil samples from? Like from under the leaf canopy or from any unused portion of the patch?

I agree. Good advice. I have found the leaf samples to be useful, so I wouldn't discourage their use, but if there are no problems to figure out then their usefulness can soon run out. If there is a problem, they might be useful in identifying it but in general soil tests might be a better investment.

My son got stung by one a couple months ago trying to get his hook back. I told him to just cut the line but he didn't listen. Those bastards hurt and put my son down for a few minutes. That barb went all the way to the bone! OUCH!!!

I think anything from pH5.5 to pH6 is on the money but that’s in our soil.
